Spanish Inmates Eat Prasadam
Posted January 12, 2011
Once again, and for second consecutive year, we did the prasadam distribution in the Prison of Ceuta, Spain. Still the only prison in all Spain and European Union, who serves at least once in a year a full vegetarian menu (mainly Hindu dishes) to all the inmates.
This year, our prasadam distribution took place on Friday December 3rd 2010 My wife Radhapriya and me, with the assistance of a group of inmates, cooked 300 meals for all the inmates as well as the guards and other prison staff.
After the cooking was finished, we did the offering to Guru Parampara, Radha Krishna, and Sita Rama.
The menu was: Basmati rice, mung dhal, Chinese noodles with vegetables, mix vegetable pakoras, potato-eggplant sabji, spinach puris, fresh lemonade and for dessert, fruit salad.
This time I presented the prison director and second officer with Spanish version of Higher Taste.
The two local newspapers published two full pages articles as well as 6 photos.
Here are two comments we had about this program:
Senior security official: "When the food is good, nobody talks during lunch, and today everybody was eating in silence".
One inmate: "Thank you very much for coming and remembering us, especially in this Christmas season".
There are thousands of inmates waiting for Lord Chaitanya´s mercy in prisons all over the world!
