My Karma My Fault
Posted June 15, 2010
I'm a former gurukula kid, also known as Devadatta das or Devavratta das, who grew up in ISKCON. I have written a book of my life within the Hare Krsna movement, My Karma My Fault (ISBN 9163362872), an English-language book chronicling my experiences in the Almvik (Sweden) and Mayapur (India) gurukulas, as well as my experiences in various ISKCON temples.
On May 26, 2010 H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden received a copy of my book, and her secretary sent me this comment: "Her Majesty the Queen wants to thank you for sending a copy of your book, My Karma My Fault, to her. It took a lot of courage to write this book, and the Queen looks forward to reading it and to partake of your story. The Queen sends her well wishes."
H.H. Bhanu Swami also wrote: "I had a little trouble getting started, what with time factor, and a little reluctance, thinking "What is this?" However, I read it at one sitting. I think that all parents, teachers and leaders in ISKCON should read the book. It is unfortunate that the past cannot be erased, especially the individual experience.
"At least we can take preventive measures, by giving devotees an idea of how not to raise and educate children. I will recommend this book to any parent who thinks of putting their kids in gurukulas also — not to scare them away, but to make sure that they take precautions."
It has taken me years to get to the point where I could write this book and another two years to compile it. Please give it your consideration by reading it. This is not a victim's account, but the account of someone who survived and who has found a way to live side by side with the abuse.
The book is 149 pages, softbound. It is available at the Scandinavian website www.adlibris.com, or
you can email me, Daniel.Lutz at pamho.net, Paypal acct: firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send a copy of my book to people who find it interesting for reading.
