Mayapur Nagara Sankirtan Party

HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami kindly sponsored new musical instruments and a Public Address System for the Nagara Sankirtan Department. An African djembe drum was sent from Ghana; combining the djembe drum and the accordion music for the kirtan is quite attractive for the local villagers as they love to dance and interact with the devotees. They usually beg us to visit on a regular basis. By the mercy of Lord Gauranga we covered seven Islands in the month of June. We hope this will please our Spiritual masters??

TRANSLATION
Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical instruments, the spiritual master is always gladdened by the sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end, he feels quivering in his body, and tears flow from his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.

A Russian and a South African devotee who are both good musicians came all the way from their countries to join Nagara Sankirtan Department increasing our number to eleven . We are expecting more devotees from all over the world as many are writing to come and join the harinam party in Mayapur. We are planning to expand to two parties as the number increases and keep expanding and expanding to many parties till we get fourteen parties as done by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu 513 years ago in Mayapur- Navadvipa.

Room number 7 at the Brahmacari Ashram is donated for free to the NS dept and the members of NS are given Prasadam free of charge by the support of the Central management.

We distributed 5000 plates of kitchiri and 6000 packets of maha prasadam during the month of June. We do FFL twice a week and hope to get sponsorship that will enable us include the FFL along harinam anytime we go out.

Our specially designed rainproof Rickshaw is almost ready. It will be useful as we have entered the rainy season, we could go ahead with our harinam unabated without Lord Indra's interference.

In the third week of June we started the boat harinam and FFL programme from village to village along the bank of Ganga. It is an exciting experience and we will share it with you later. About 50 devotees - mainly families with children and their parents from the Mayapur community - followed us. The harinam is side by side bridging the gap between the multi- dimensional classes and cultures of devotees in the community as well.

You need to watch it yourself on Sunday when the party finally settles in front of the RadhaMadhava temple chanting while the pilgrims are taking prasadam offered by the FFL department to understand what I am hitting at...You will see both old and young dancing in ecstasy with their hands raise and stretched high into the sky sweating profusely, full of smiles, non-stop for hours until the Sandhya arati time when the Nagara Sankirtan party members leave to their ashrams..

In the month of June, the Nagara Sankirtan department co-ordinated and had harinam with 500 students who visited Mayapur, we chanted to the Nanda Acharya house and back, we had a programme with Sri Mayapur International School graduation ceremony doing harinam around the ISKCON campus and also the Community annual mini Ratha Yatra organized by SMIS pre-school authorities. We have devotees from the following countries manifesting the vision of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur's prediction: Brasil, Bulgaria, Nepal, Italy, Australia, India, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Russia, Canary Islands and Ukraine.

"It was Bhaktivinoda Thakura's aspiration that Europeans, Americans, and Indians all together dance jubilantly and chant "Gaura Hari". So this temple, Mayapur Candrodaya temple, is meant for transcendental United Nations. What United Nations has failed, that will be achieved here by the process recommended by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama, sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama. So you have come from all parts of the world and are living in this temple. So train these boys. I am very glad especially to see the small children from all other countries, and Indians, Bengalis, all together. Forgetting their bodily consciousness. That is the greatest achievement in this movement, that everyone forgets the bodily conception of life. Nobody thinks themselves here as Europeans, Americans, Indians, Hindu, Muslim, Christian. They forget all these designations, and simply they are ecstatic in chanting the Hare Krishna mantra. So kindly what you have begun do not break it. Continue it very jubilantly. And Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the master of Mayapur. He will be very much pleased upon you. And ultimately you will go back home, back to Godhead"????..17-08-1976. Please just abandon all varieties of services, take a break from your busy schedule and come join the Mayapur Nagara sankirtan and bathe in the blissful kirtan of Lord Nityananda and Mahaprabhu. Everyone is welcome, including the Gurus and GBC members, for spiritual rejuvenation.
