"On Parikrama to Srimati Vishnupriya Devi's Temple in Navadvipa, we bathed
in the Holy Names of the Lord as part of our purification to fix our mind on
devotional service - and with the Mayapur Nagar Sankirtan Department's sound
system, you are INDEED BATHING in the sound of the Holy Name!" - HH
Kadamba Kanana Swami, Lecture, Sat 8 December.
HH Kadamba Kanana Swami explained further how we can never be as austere as
Vishnupriya Devi, but we must choose a service and become fixed like her in
that service. And all of us should become fixed like her in chanting our
16 rounds.

This inspiring lecture took place after a jubilant Harinama from Mayapur to
Navadvipa, lead by HH Kadamba Kanana Swami and the members of the Mayapur
Nagar Sankirtana (Harinama) Department. The Temple of Vishnupriya Devi
became saturated with the Holy Names, with joyful devotees jumping and
curious local dhamvasis looking on. Maharaja spoke about the wonderful
consort of Lord Caitanya:

After Sri Nimai Pandit left Navadvipa, Vishnupriya adopted an austere and
devoted life. She became as thin as the crescent moon before Amavasya (dark
moon). Following a rigid sadhana (spiritual practice), she set aside one
grain of rice for every round of Hare Krishna japa she chanted. In the
evening, Vishnupriya Devi cooked these grains, offered them to her personal
Deity of Mahaprabhu, and honored the remnants. Known today as Dhamesvara
Mahaprabhu, Vishnupriya's gorgeous Deity of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu resides
in Navadvipa city in this Temple that we visited. Sriman Mahaprabhu receives
regular worship and gives unlimited mercy. The pujaris kindly place His
large shoes on everyone's head.

"The Dham is jubilant, ecstatic, with huge flowers popping out of the ground
to please Lord Caitanya. By associating with the Holy Dhama we are
borrowing the bhava of the Dhama and we also become happy." - HH Kadamba
Kanana Swami
The Mayapur Nagara Sankirtana Department will accompany Maharaja again on
further joyful
visits to sites around the nine islands, which take place on Saturdays in
conjunction with the MIHE (Mayapur Institute for Higher Education.)

Other activities of the Department this past week include distribution of
Kichari at Prashin Mayapur (Muslim Villiage across the Ganga) and Srinathpur
(Opposite Yogapith) as well as Svarupganj (Godrumadvipa), as well as Harinam
on Campus daily.
The next exciting event in the Harinam Department's storehouse of ecstatic
events is the appearance of the Harinama Deities!!!! Watch this spot to
read all about the arrival of the Deities that will accompany the Harinam
Devotees wherever they go......
Due to the arrival of the Deities the Harinama party is now doing 7 days a
week instead of 5, and twice daily sometimes. With the enthusiasm and
expansion we hope to soon do FFL also 7 days a week. |
